In 2011, 2.2 million people participated in Jumpstart’s “Read for the Record.” This annual reading celebration’s lofty goal is to get preschoolers and their caregivers worldwide to read the same book on the same day. Simply put, it’s an international “One Read” for preschoolers. This year’s title is “Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad” by David Soman and Jacky Davis.
Be a part of the celebration and help break the record this year! You can stop by any of DBRL facility September 27 through October 4 to share the book, snap a picture of your preschooler dressed up as a Bug Squad member and add to the official tally of readers.
Can’t make it in? You can still take part by reading the book for free at We Give Books, a free digital reading initiative by Penguin and the Pearson Foundation. Share with us (in the comments) how many children and adults enjoyed the book with you!
We read the digital edition at our house and three girls and mama and daddy got to hear it. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing!
