In my experience, Jan Thomas’ books are surefire hits, so it’s no surprise that “Is Everyone Ready for Fun?” has been nominated for the Missouri Building Block Award. If your preschoolers are having a gloomy day, the book’s slapstick humor will have them chuckling in no time. Who wouldn’t laugh at a crew of cows happily jumping on a tiny sofa and a poor chicken’s repulsion at the destruction of his furniture?
Bonus: the call to jump, wiggle and dance with the cows will have your child moving in no time. Caution: children are incapable of sitting still during this infectious story. On the bookmobile, we quickly learned to modify the text to “bounce” in an attempt to avoid a rocking vehicle and seasick adults.
This is a perfect get-your-wiggles-out book, but I doubt your children will end up napping with the animals at the end.
