Missouri Building Blocks: Is Everyone Ready for Fun?

Is Everyone Ready for Fun?In my experience, Jan Thomas’ books are surefire hits, so it’s no surprise that “Is Everyone Ready for Fun?” has been nominated for the Missouri Building Block Award.  If your preschoolers are having a gloomy day, the book’s slapstick humor will have them chuckling in no time. Who wouldn’t laugh at a crew of cows happily jumping on a tiny sofa and a poor chicken’s repulsion at the destruction of his furniture?

Bonus: the call to jump, wiggle and dance with the cows will have your child moving in no time. Caution: children are incapable of sitting still during this infectious story. On the bookmobile, we quickly learned to modify the text to “bounce” in an attempt to avoid a rocking vehicle and seasick adults.

This is a perfect get-your-wiggles-out book, but I doubt your children will end up napping with the animals at the end.

The playful text is going to make you want to get up and move. Teach your kids some of your favorite childhood games. Try Simon Says, Red Light Green Light or Duck Duck Goose. Need a refresher on outdoor games? Grab one of these books at your library.
