Working at the children’s desk is great! We get to help kids find that fantastic book on bears, castles, trucks, fairies or whatever topic they are currently obsessively exploring. We get to see young children grow into readers. And every once in a while, we get drawings from kids who are excited to share with us how much the library means to them. For example:
This drawing came from a young girl who marched up to the desk with a huge smile on her face. She handed an envelope to a staff member and watched with pride while the staff member opened the envelope and looked at the picture. I was glad to be there to see the delight on the girl’s face as well as the staff member’s. I love working at the library, and it is so rewarding when people share their love (or like) of the library with me!
